Allergic rhinitis or non-allergic rhinitis?

Rhinitis is a nasal inflammation, classiffied according to the factors that trigger it, in three groups:

  • Allergic rhinitis - is caused by an allergic response to specific factors, such as pollen, dust or pet hair. During an allergic response, the immune system overreacts to the presence of one of these allergens in the air.
  • Non-allergic rhinitis - any form of rhinitis that does not involve the immune system. It is often caused by environmental problems, such as air pollution, tobacco smoke or strong odors.
  • Mixed rhinitis (a combination of allergic and non-allergic factors).

Both allergic and non-allergic rhinitis have many of the same symptoms, but there are some key differences. Here they are:
